Science Tuning Fork Kits
Science tuning forks are similar to music forks except that they are shifted downwards slightly in
frequency. Middle C in the science series is set at 256Hz compared to 261.6Hz. This is done for convenience since
tuning forks are used in physics experiments to demonstrate the relationship of frequency to wavelength. As such, it is more
intuitive that adjacent octaves are either 2X or 1/2 the frequency; e.g. 128:256:512:1028:2048:4096, etc.
The 8 fork science tuning fork kit covers the 256-512Hz octave. The "C" fork set includes 6 forks to cover the 5 octaves
128-4096hz in 1 octave steps.
13 fork science tuning fork sets including sharps are available only as a special order. Prices are the same as the comparable
music sets. Allow 1 month for delivery.
