Taste Test Strips
PTC (thiourea) tastes bland, bitter or utterly vile depending on the genes you
inherited for taste. You can do taste experiments in class or as a science fair project on heredity to determine
who among your friends and classmates have inherited the gene.

Sodium benzoate is less well researched. It is a common preservative in bread, so some people might find some breads taste
unpalatable.
How to use:
- Take strip out of bottle
- Stick out tongue
- Place strip on tongue
- 3 possible results: no response; slight bitter taste; revolting
- Test is not necessarily definitive for supertasting.
Note (1): The number of strips per pack or vial is approximate.
Note (2): Keep out of sunlight.
Note (3): Phenylthiocarbamide is present in the amount of 3 to 5 micrograms per strip. |
