PTC (thiourea) tastes bland, bitter or utterly vile depending on the genes you inherited for taste. You can do taste experiments in class or as a science fair project on heredity to determine who among your friends and classmates have inherited the gene. Homozygous dominant will find it tastes very horribly bad; heterozygous will find it tastes somewhat bitter.

We also offer test strips for sodium benzoate but this compound is not as well known.
