MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus) staph infections & Clostridium difficile are significant health threats. Tests have shown that C. difficile spores may take 15 minutes of exposure at the 1000ppm level to ensure steriliation. In addition, removal of free chlorine due to organic contamination (blood/feces) can seriously reduce the sanitizing effects of chlorine.

To ensure adequate disinfection, much higher concentrations, up to 10,000ppm (1%) chlorine levels are recommended. These test strips are designed to measure at this high level to ensure adequate free chlorine levels.
