Right Angle Prisms
Right angle prisms behave quite differently from standard
. Instead of refracting light (producing a "rainbow")
these these prisms reflect/steer light at right angles. If you use 2, you can build your own periscope and look over
fences or around corners. You can use just one to to steer sunlight upwards if you need a light source for your microscope.
In either case, reflection can be enhanced if you have a means of "silvering" or mirroring the outside surfaces that are at
right angles to each to improve the efficiency (reduce light leakage).
Note: Right angle prisms are NOT recommended for refraction (rainbow) experiments.
