Chitin Molecule Model Kit
The glucose model kit is intended mainly for showing the various important sugars. However, chitin is composed of glucosamine which is only slightly different
from cellulose. It is as important to insects as cellulose is to plants for maintaining structural integrity.
The nitrogen atomns shown in the image below have a planar geometry although some texts/on-line sources indicate a tetrahedral geometry. Use the planar carbons, nitrogens & single oxygens along
with the double bond "X" pegs to build the amine group. The double bond itself uses a 20mm "wobbly"™ and 20mm thin bond.
