Orbit Tetrahedral, Octrahedral & Trigonal-bipyramidal Atoms
Orbit tetrahedral, octrahedral & trigonal-bipyramidal atoms are used in virtually every complex molecule
that can be modelled. The single most common is the tetrahedral (sp)3 carbon which is found in every organic compound and
of course diamond. Other compounds using this geometry include water/ice
and zeolites.
The octahedral atom is used in structures such as sodium chloride (salt) & perovskite.
The trigonal bipyramidal is used in graphite since the axial prongs are used to connect the different layers.
