Cr8 Organic Magnet Molecular Model Kit (Orbit)

This is a representation of a magnetic molecule, Cr8. This molecule as well as "Mn12" have potential use as nanomagnets. The study of nanomagnetism is relatively new but such materials demonstrate the potential of organic molecules coupled to metals.

The model is highly strained due to the unusual geometries but the more flexible "wobbly"™ bonds take up the strain. It is approximately 400mm across & 225mm high. For a samller version of this model, see minit version of the Cr8 magnetic molecule which uses our "GlowBonds"™ so that the model glows in the dark.
