Glucose Molecule Structure Model Kit

Glucose is a simple sugar that is arguably the most important carbohydrate for multicelled organisms on our planet. Its importance to cellular respiration cannot be overstated. It also forms the basic building block of disaccharides such as lactose and sucrose and complex glucose polymers (polysaccharides) such as glycogen, starch and cellulose and is involved in a wide variety chemical pathways and reactions.

The chemical formula of glucose is C6H12O6; i.e. its chemical composition is 6 carbons, 6 oxygens and 12 hydrogens. This kit has enough parts to build 3 molecules of glucose; both the alpha and beta forms of glucose or D & L enantiomers of one form or the other, and a third for comparison when building disaccharides.
