Carbon Nanotube Models

We offer 3 three different sized model parts for building single walled type (SWCNT) carbon nanotubes. Molymod has 23mm diameter atoms; Orbit has a 10mm central sphere with 10mm bonding "arms"; Minit is similar to Orbit but has a 6mm central sphere and bond arm.

We supply standard kits based on Orbit and Minit but we also offer all the components so you can customize any of them.

The Minit nanotubes have an added feature in that some of the bonds are phosphorescent, i.e. glow in the dark. This includes the kit #67601 which has enough parts to build armchair, zig zag & chiral nanotubes simultaneously. Another kit, the carbon nanotube field effect display (FET/FED) model, is a simplified version of the real thing & is intended for demonstrating this important area of nanotube technology.

Lastly, we have a nanowire model kit which is similar to the nanotube model but has with fewer cells around the circumference in order to better mimic a nanowire.
