Triplet Geology Loupes

Triplet loupes offer the best performance in terms of achromatic clarity and have a relatively large viewing area. These magnifiers combine cemented lenses, made from crown and BK7 glass, to correct for chromatic aberration and barrel distortion.

A 15X lens may be used for geology field studies & is preferred by some rockhounds. The 20X magnifier can be used to view fungal spores such as soybean rust & the 30X for microfractures in jet engine turbine blades or micropitting. The 20 & 30X magnifiers especially have a limited depth of field & are NOT recommended for beginners. You should consider buying a lower power if this is your first loupe.
