Steel bar magnet pairs come with specially designed keepers for a 20 year shelf life and are used with iron filings, compasses or magnaprobes to show magnetic field lines of force.

If you require something much stronger, you should consider a rare earth bar magnet.

Note: Do NOT use steel horseshoe/u-shape magnets for repulsion. They will demagnetize almost immediately, use a ferrite block magnet instead.
