Educational Electromagnet

This electromagnet assembly consists of a soft iron core u-magnet wrapped with heavy duty copper wire. The electromagnet can be activated with a battery or power supply (an old model train transformer will do) to demonstrate the principles of electromagnetism. In addition, there is a protective lacquer coating on the copper wires. A small amount, 5mm (~1/4") off the ends, needs to be scraped with sandpaper to make good electrical contact.
