Water is often referred to as the "universal solvent" & is found just about everywhere, including places where it isn't wanted.

In addition to our regular moisture detection test papers, we also offer a variable moisture (relative humidity) test strips which indicate 20-40-60-80% relative humidity.

Cobalt chloride moisture detection sheets change color slowly at 55% relative humidity or immediately when wet but the reaction is reversible. The chlorophenol leak detector paper only changes in response to liquid water & is irreversible.

The lead acetate and iron strips are handy for measuring hydrogen sulfide or ferrous/ferric iron in drinking water.

Fresh water has varying levels of dissolved minerals. If this amount is low, the water is considered "soft". High levels of minerals such as calcium carbonate render the water "hard" & these minerals can precipitate in pipes or tarnish glass & silverware. These test strips can determine the relative levels of hardness & whether a water softener is required.

Monitoring the pH of water can be done with a variety of our test strips but the most versatile are the pH4.5-10 strips which indicate changes of 0.5 pH units.
